A Museum and a Pier

Two Photo Essays

In 2013 we came from the east into Los Angeles having driven from Las Vegas via Death Valley. Our ultimate destination was the airport to drop off the rental car and catch the flight home but with a day to spare what better than time at a museum and refreshment at Santa Monica beach.

First stop was the Getty Villa, an art museum located at Pacific Palisades. It is dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of Anicent Greece, Rome and Etruria. The collection has 44,000 Greek, Roman, and Etruscan antiquities dating from 6,500 BC to 400 AD.

It is a remarkable place and I recently had the opportunity to curate the photos that I had taken of our visit and assemble them into a visualisation of this remarkable establishment.

After a number of hours at the Villa we drove to the Santa Monica Pier and the end of Route 66 for refreshment and shrimp at Bubba Gumps. The view from the pier was so ….California.
