I was fortunate enough to bound up the steps to the Acropolis in Athens and respectfully and gently walk through the Parthenon under instruction just before it was closed to public footsteps in 1975. It was pretty bare. But then as 23 year old in London later the same year visiting the BM this facet of Greek history finally made sense. 50 years ago I thought it truthful marrying of what I had seen with facts. Now those proofs are being returned to museum in Athens.

I am grateful for the BM in that it is still a source of genuine history and I hope it still carries the unadulterated truth about NZ history. I love that it does not intervene, just records.
