Do journalists nowadays even know and understand what is meant by going to the primary source for verification? I suspect Mr Currie has, in common parlance, put an extremely favourable spin on a very flimsy scaffolding. (Apologies for the mixed metaphor)

If ©opyright is the solution, who is the rent seeker?

I'm sure systems to sustain the status quo have frequently been offered, but equally often, they have been rejected by Vox Dei in favour of systems that serve them.

Though Substack isn't profitable, and really shouldn't be, dealing in abundance has that effect, it seems the evolutionary best (AKA most adaptable) are surviving.

There are no remaining supports for the philosophical stool that © rested uneasily on, pesky First Amendment shielded by Fair Use. Works will, as Eben Moglen explained, arise, and the extension of the private domain will shrink. How can you protect "intellectual property" from the onset of industrial cultural production?

Only by immutable cryptographically verifiable claims.

Given that the Cabinet paper has already been released, I imagine Goldsmith's Media and Communications officials will send a copy to you upon request.

Graham

I have made an OIA request. The waiting begins. I would hope I get a copy pronto but alternatively the Bill may be passed before I get a response.
